Never too much for 3 weeks and 10 tickets...especially for Ben!
You will find something new each time. That's the magic of theare..really.Enjoy the London summer as well!
Though never been to London, it's been my dreams for ages. Preview is something I would never imagine would happen on me... oh and FINALLY I am going to London this summer for Bakkhai, 3 weeks and 10 tickets... Too much, I knew... Oh, well.. I flew over continents to see him anyway, so rly cannot blame me for snagging some tickets..
Cross my finger for her too!
When I lived in London, I could go to previews so easily ...such as Richard II, The Hour and so on...I miss London Life!! Oh, well...
Anyway The Muse is finally out soon. It is so exciting!!
Ah... I am not in London as well, but my friends signed up for it. Cross my finger for her, hope she can make it and see Ben tho. Cannot wait for the Muse, it's been hanging there for too long.
Thank you very much for the info, I did not know that!
Anyway my sitation now is not allow me to go easily because I am not living in London anymore.
Hope you or your friend win the lotto, and if you pick up any story behind the film, please let me know! Thanx again!
Just want to mention it, but I guess you already knew it. Ben's muse is up to a lottery for private screening with a Q&A session with Ben in London. Did you sign up for it?
People tend to have an image about him being a miserable man because of his choices of work....some of my friends still call him "Pingu". Actually I would like to see him as a grown up Pingu in "Nathan Barley RETURNS" if happens...joking!
Yeah me too. Sometimes just wondering if he can do something more delightful and easy to watch without heart-breaking scenes/endings. That means any film without him dying, or his partner dying, or he being beaten up ,or he being kidnaped, or him being bullied..... And by filtering all those criteria, there aren't so many left......
I'd love to see him being in this kind of deadpan-ish drama near future!!
How could I Forget all signs of death. 'Adults are supposed to maintain their composure. But sometimes these xx kids make you snap.'
As far as I remember, before or after he worked for "The Pride" in 2010, he went to somewhere in NY state for filming his part as Ariel in "Tempest". Then in year 2011, he went to LA to shoot a television pilot of HBO drama called "All signs of death" which is based on a novel by Charlie Huston, but it did not work out after all. It's a shame really.
I am kind of hoping he will work for European films...I would like to hear he is speaking French especially somehow...haha.
Anyway thanks for the info about his role in "Danish Girl" you might think. I should read the book as well!
Maybe the marriage life really suits him lol. He's been taking more projects compared to before. Maybe because he switched to a more well-connected L.A agent, maybe because he is more aggressive? Haha I am not sure if it's an appropriate question, but since I will fly to London to see Bakkhai, I think I might ask him in person about why he is so active lately...
And I apologize for my typo previously. As a matter of fact, Ben has SIX Hollywood movie this year, instead of FIVE. The one that I missed counting is 'A hologram for the king', directed by Tim Tywker （Yeah it's him again..:P) I guess the reason I forgot about it is because it's featuring Tom Hanks, and Ben's role might not be that important..? I only knew his character called 'Dave', however I haven't read the book yet. But somehow, I feel the role could either be really cameo-ish, like the one in 'The international'. Or... he could be playing the book writer, Dave Eggers.. But those are simply my guess, I will update you once I finish the book sometime next week.
And for Ben's role in 'The Danish Girl', I can almost confirm you he is playing Henrik, a well-established painter who insanely fell in love with Lili (Einar) when they first met at a ball... I finished the book and would highly recommend this book to you, not just because it's about to become a major motion picture. This book is the most deeply touching love story I have ever read, PERIOD. I'd love to, but I cannot share more plots with you, simply because it will spoils the vibe you would feel when you are reading the book... Between Henrik and Lili, it's somehow similar to 'The bright star', but with more emotional twists.
Going back to the topic of working in U.S., please correct me if I am wrong, but as long as I could remember, starting from 2010, he's only been here for The off-broadway show 'The pride' in 2010, and 2012/13 in Connecticut for 'Days and nights'... Really hope he could work on more projects here so that I don't have to fly over oceans to see him ><.
And last but not the lease, hope you have a very nice Sunday in JP today Haaya. <3
I difinitely agree with you about his changes in the recent years. Maybe his personal life has been relaxed more than before, so he can focus on his work more than ever?
Eventhough he might not be comfortable to work in entertainment industry in L.A in the past, I am sure he will go ahead in the future if he believes a project is right for him..actually he has worked in the U.S a lot over the years, hasn't he?
Thanks for the link Haaya, I haven't read this interview before. But somehow I do remember that he does not like L.A. at all, I think the source is his IMDB actor page...? Ben was such a different person by then, even a little bit social-phobia at that time. But I do feel that he has changed a lot over the year, and in a good way; More confidence, and less uncertainty.
Same here. So delighted that he is on the fast track now. I was kinda worried when I read his interview with the Guardian in back 2012. I remembered that he mentioned that he might one day quit acting.. He was extremely cynical about the government cut budget in art and performance industry because of the economy...
Thanks for the info of Ben's upcoming films later this year! It's amazing how much work he has done lately.
I remember several years ago...I was so frustrated because Ben's work was not so lined up much. But after all he really has made good choices of project.
I really have been learning a lot from his work...Shakespeare, Keats..social and gender issues, family matters and so on. Every subject he has chosen was so meaningful to me as well.
Anyway if he plays Lili's husband, it will be sooo exciting! I can not wait to see it!!
As for Ben's role in Danish girl, I bought the book however I haven't finished it yet. As far I am guessing, he might be playing Lili's husband. Lili is Einar (Eddie's role) after the transgender practise.
I agree that they might be both casted for Einar's role. However I don't think Ben's got a great luck from the beginning. Danish girl will be distributed by Focus Features, which also distributed The Theory of Everything. Considerating the firm's affection on Eddie and the box office, the producer will mostly likely go for Eddie as Einar...
Ben's got five big-budget films just by looking the the big-name distributors. Focus Features (Danish girl and suffret) , Sony (007), Warners Bros (In the heart of the sea), Protagonist (lobster). I literally cannot wait until year-end to watch all of them in the movie theatres myself. >v<
Do you know what kind of role Ben is playing in Danish Girl? I have been guessing that will be just a Cameo-ish role....I may be wrong though.
I have suspected that Ben and Eddie Redmayne competed against each other to win the leading role Lili in the audition...I just feel it somehow. Then Ben has been remained in the project in that way. I may be wrong again:)
Both 'Lobster' and 'In the heart of sea' have been postponed their releasing? I did not know that. So Ben is in two big budget films for the next Oscar season.
I definitely agree that 2015 is a busy year for Benji. Besides London Spy and blockbuster-like/ Oscar-aiming films, he is also going back to theatre and doing Bakkhai this summer. What a year!
Generally speaking, I think he has a great chance of being nominated in Oscar next year with 'the Danish girl' as best supporting actor. LGBT topic is getting more and more attention in US now and also the cast and crew are quite 'Oscar'. As you may know, both lobster and in the heart of sea have been postponed their releasing date from March this year to Nov. And the reason I think is because the film company sincerely recognize the film quality and ready to shoot for Oscar.
Thank you for visiting my blog!
As you may notice, there are so many Ben's recent works I have not covered yet because he constantly has a upcoming project...it is hard to catch up!
But it is great pleasure that we can watch his work of art more and more. He is such an inspirational person, isn't he!?
Thanks again Kate. Please stop by anytime!
Thank you so much for keeping such a lovely blog about Ben. :)
